In 1992, the First Channel of Israeli Television
broadcast a six-part series entitled, Jerusalem of Spain. The series was
presented by Yitzechak Navon, the Fifth President of Israel, who visited
cities and sites related to the glorious past of Spanish Jewry, their
persecution and subsequent expulsion. The two final programs in the series
were devoted to the Portugues Marrans.
Daniel Akiva composed and arranged music for the series, which was translated into five languages and broadcast in many countries around the world. In november 1999, Akiva revised the music and this recording was made. |
